About the project “Photo-Field Work Abroad”

The scene of towns, which I walked around in South East Asia and East Asia, was rather familiar than strange. For example, in Shanghai the breaking old houses and the skyline from new high buildings, jam from people or too many vehicles, and so on. I found that I know the scene like these certainly even though I’ve never been there before.
My theme of this class “Photo-Field Work Abroad” was “Image of the culture of West Europe going into Another culture”.
The rationalized things such as the woods of high buildings make the proper culture changed and also at the same time they accepts the Americanized culture, so the shapes of various towns are coming similar to each other. I never wanted to catch it only as a negative sense, but at first I couldn’t take pictures as I thought.
With hardship, I didn’t stop taking pictures, and on an occasion, something changed in my own, I got impressions that were some difference among them, I have it as a care of this theme, and want to express the image of “the scene might be anywhere, but it never be everywhere.”
I believe that I can see in this age when Asia is developing rapidly.

I put “River” as a theme of the work which I’ve made before going to field work project, and the clue to start it was that a river in my hometown around which I used to play in my childhood was changed by the construction of river banks protection. At that time I was 2nd grade of this school, NPI, and tried seeing around my neighbor sight because we’d be abroad for a long time.

“To see with my own eyes, to feel from the scene, and think about something from the view deeply.”
It’s the thing what I think it important about photographing. And I could experience a lot in this course. Not to confirm things which one knew or had in his/her heart, to see a lot of things because he/she and I don’t know very much. It’s the taste of Photography, also Field Work. I was said no to be a strong documental photographer, but one like me can express what he/she felt and what he/she saw. One can also meet with many people through photography.
I think it’s the unrestricted point and fascination of Photography.
And in my life I want to continue my fieldwork with this stance.
