４カ国目のタイに入った。旅もそろそろ１ヶ月半となり、体力を消耗する場面も多くなってきた。昨晩は体調不良を訴える学生を連れ今回の旅で初めて病院も行った。

We entered Thailand, the 4th country for us yesterday. Such cases to consume our physical energy have been getting increased day by day. In fact, I took some of my students who were not feeling well last night to an hospital in Bangkok for the first time for this year's fieldwork trip.


非常に暑く蒸す毎日。通じない言葉。常に気をつけねばならぬ衛生面やセキュリティー等々。

Extremely hot and humid days. Language barriers. Hygienic and security problems to watch out very carefully, etc....


昨日、バンコクの空港で荷物をかかえ搭乗口に向かう際、学生の佑木が言った言葉が印象的だった。

I can't forget what my student Yuki told me last night at the Bankok Airport when we were forwarding to the bording gate carrying heavy bags. She said,


「フィールドワークって、体力と忍耐の勝負ですね。」

"Our firldwork is really something that requires our physical strength and perseverance".


こうしてあと約５ヶ月も旅を続けるのだから、秋を迎えるころまでに、どれほど学生が鍛えられるのかと思うと、今からとても楽しみな気がする。

The students still have 5 more tough months to go till autumn. If I come to think of it, I just can't wait to see them there imagining how much they will be trained by that time.
