April 9 from Hue, Vietnam
Temperature: very hot (about 30 degree?)
Humidity: very wet (about 80%?)
Genereal weather pattern: hot and sunny. rain and shower in the afternoon
Since the PC here at the Hotel in Hue, mid east of Vietnam, does not have Japanese font, I'm writing this in English.
After Taiwan, we proceeded to Vietnam as scheduled without any problem. Generally speaking, Taiwan was reratively easy place for us to start with because of many similalities and Japanese influences such as languages, food, transportations, etc etc.
However, I was culturally shocked by the Vietnamese atmosphere. Lots of motorbikes, people, noise, smell, food, tropical hot/wet weather, on and on.... The Vietnamese life seems very different from ours. In fact I did not know for a couple of days as to what kind of pictures I should take here. Some of the students were also like me and "suffered" culture shock.
Any way, having experience and struggling in different cultures to face ourselves is one of the most important thing for our photo field work course. In that sense, I must say that our serous journey has started at last here in Vietnam. The 19 students are trying hard to capture their images in Vietnam running up and down, from north to south, from east to west. So, please check out our blog carefully!!
